SkyRC Silicone Tyre Warming Cup for TW Neo - Black (2)
Replacement caps for the TW Neo tyre heating station (600157-01) from SkyRC. This version features the latest silicone-coated heating blankets for 1:10 on-road vehicles. The silicone coating distributes the heat even more evenly and transfers it to the tyre rubber.
Info : All different SkyRC heating blankets can be connected to all SkyRC heating stations.
Contents : 2 silicone caps (1 pair) for the SkyRC heating station (incl. connection cable)
What are tyre heating blankets used for?
Tyre warmers bring the tyre temperature and thus the tyre pressure (irrelevant for foam rubber tyres) and, above all, the grip to an optimal level before the start.
→ Goal: Maximum grip right from the first metre, not only after 1–2 warm-up laps.
What are the effects of warm tyres?
-
Increased grip
Rubber becomes softer, tyres cling better to the track → more mechanical grip. -
More consistent
handling Tyres behave predictably right from the start, no more slippery "running in". -
Faster lap times right
from the start This is particularly advantageous in short preliminary rounds or final races (e.g. 5-minute heats). -
Better tyre wear (in some cases)
Tyres wear more evenly because they operate within the optimum temperature range right from the start.
How are they used?
-
Mounting : Tyre heating blankets (usually four) are placed around the mounted wheels.
-
Switch on & select temperature : 40–80 °C is common, depending on the type of tyre, route and outside temperature.
-
Warm up for 20–30 minutes before the race : This distributes the heat evenly to the tyre core.
-
Optional: Apply tyre grip agent (additive) beforehand : This is often combined with the blankets to enhance the effect.
-
Remove immediately before the start and drive : Work quickly so that the temperature does not drop immediately.
When are tyre heating blankets particularly useful?
-
On-road touring cars (1/10 electric, nitro) → Very common
-
Stock classes (less engine power) → The extra grip helps with acceleration
-
Low-grip carpet or cold outside temperatures → Critical, as cold tyres hardly build up any grip
-
Foam rubber tyres (nitro on-road 1/8 & 1/10) → Standard
Less relevant or prohibited : In off-road racing (buggy, truggy), usually uncommon or not permitted according to regulations.
In short :
Tyre warmers = Immediate maximum grip from the start — they are a competitive advantage, especially in on-road classes and on grippy or cold tracks.
Setups are more consistent and predictable, resulting in faster lap times.
