Schumacher Steel Chassis Conversion Kit – Cougar LD3 (U9573)
This conversion kit converts the Cougar LD3 to a steel chassis. The result: a lower centre of gravity combined with greater chassis flex – a combination that performs particularly well on undulating Astro surfaces with medium grip right through to high-grip Astro and carpet.
What’s included in the conversion kit
- 1.2 mm steel chassis
- Carbon fibre side panel reinforcements
- Front stiffeners made from 3D-printed aluminium
Stiffeners as a tuning option
The stiffeners improve steering response – and can be easily removed if required. This gives you an additional tuning option: depending on track conditions, you can alter the chassis’s handling without having to swap parts.
Where the conversion really comes into its own
In tests carried out by the Schumacher team, the steel chassis demonstrated its best characteristics on undulating Astro surfaces with medium to high grip, as well as on carpet tracks. Where the standard chassis becomes too unsettled over bumps, the combination of a lower centre of gravity and greater flex ensures a smoother, more predictable ride.
